Outlaw Ned Kelly

Postby Silver_Surfer1 » Thu Sep 1, '11, 9:20 pm

Saw an article on this guy Ned Kelly who was an outlaw/hero type in Austrailia long ago and it was fascinating to read. See what you guys and gals think of him:

Also, check out this page on him on wikipedia and look at this "suit of armour" that he and his gang members supposedly wore at times:

That's an awesome suit of armour, especially for those long ago times. Whoever thought of that did some great thinking.

His life truly sounds like the stories books are made of, etc.

I know fair bit about him. SS you may also be interested in the 2003 Australian film titled Ned Kelly as well. Heath Ledger also plays the role of Ned Kelly. The film basically explores his life right up till when he was executed. It's a pretty decent movie.

Thanks Lucas. I didn't know there was a film on this Ned Kelly. I'll do some checking on that as yes, I would like to see it. :)

Oh man, Australia has such a hard-on for this guy, it's hilarious. You can't walk past a tobacco shop without seeing at least three or four metalwork statues of him for sale. Fairly sure they have his armor in a museum around here somewhere, too. But yeah. He's like Aussie Jesus or something, it's great. Plus it's neat to actually see something like that movie and realize you actually know where half the locations are.
