Statue without Sword

This statue, hidden deep below Esper Mansion, was once the resting place of the Sacred Sword Elsydeon. After Chaz took up the sword, the statue remained with empty hands. Does it wait to guard the next treasure of the Espers, or is it merely a representation of a queen who has long left her world?

I always thought that, in spite of Elsydeon's blade got into pieces to protect Chaz and friends, those (dead) protectors would return to that cave;
and when Rune place the remains of that sword on Alis’s hands (the statue), the blade (= the protectors) would be restored in (return to)Elsydeon.

Was she gripping the sword and then let go? I'm too lazy to go look and see the old image.

No, it was exactly the same except the sword was in front of her. Well, the other version shows more of the statue, too, but that's all.
