So, something I have always thought, is that Star Wars influenced Phantasy Star, especially the classic series.

What certainly hit me as a dead-ringer, is the Capeone/Wizard/D-Elm-Lars enemy family from PS 2-4, which are nearly identical to Emperor Palpatine's Imperial Guard dressed in red, in Star Wars Ep 6.

Also, the robot police that murder Nero and are in service of Lassic, are pretty much Stormtroopers, except they shoot better.

Then there is the fact Lassic/La Shiec is described as a practitioner of dark "religion" in PS1, which echoes how the Sith are described in SW Ep4.
Also in PS1, but as well as later titles, he is a corrupt emperor corrupted by a Dark Force, much as the Sith are corrupted by the dark side of the Force in SW.

Well....what else? I'm not exactly a big Star Wars fan, but couldn't ignore those.
Open to any other references.

You can buy a light saber in PSI.

The native Motavians kind of look like Ewoks?

I'm sure there's more, but that's what immediately came to mind.

Sure that there are plenty of Star Wars references in the first one ! The most evident is ...in the title ! The STAR ! :) But all the other references are great too ! :)

Yeah. Some additional are:

Motavians look and dress exactly like Jawis.
Tatooine is pretty much Motavia.
Alis gets a Light Sabre in game.
The Whistle family of enemies in 2 and 4 are pretty much R2D2s.

More?

To further this theory, in a very weird way, it seems that Phantasy Star influenced Star Wars, or may have.
Dezorians, as we know, had their debut in 1987.
But their Star Wars equivalent, the Neimoidians of the trade Federation, didnt debut in Star wars till 1999.
Just google an image of Nute Gunray or Neimoidians, and tell me that isn't a Dezorian. Because, it is. Just look at the stock photo here:

https://starwars.fandom.com/wiki/Neimoidian

And if you really want to grasp at straws, the fact that Neimoidians, contain the term "Nei," a term frequently used in PS2 and PS3, may certainly add credibility as well.
