Sounds like a very good recommendation, Darkil! I'm not sure if I'm going to go see it now or wait until it comes out on DVD. I am really looking forward to it either way.

From the reviews this movie is getting so far, it looks very good ahead for this franchise, and Star Trek in general. They had a very good opening at the box office:

I'd say this movie was a hit. I read this morning it grossed 76.5 mil at the box office this weekend.

I saw the movie Friday night, and it was just epic. Karl Urban as "Bones" McCoy just stole the show for me.

I agree, he had the mannerisms, the voice, tone and attitude perfect. Of course everyone else did a dead on performance as well. I especially loved Chekov, plenty of laughter in the theater when he was talking.

I was able to see the movie Saturday. It was really great! I had a few issues with seeing the new guy as Kirk because other characters kept referring to him as the original Kirk, like Nero's line, "I know your face from history!" or whatever. It just felt like the movie was trying to push a little too much on that angle.

Urban was just perfect as Bones. I knew he would be; he seems like the kind of actor that really puts a lot of effort into his performance. That line about his ex in the shuttle really nailed it. I was just sad he didn't beam down with Kirk and Spock at some point. Maybe next time!

As far as the reboot goes, I think they handled that very well. It opens up new possibilities while preserving the previous series for those fans. Of course, I doubt they'll be returning to the original universe now, but at least it's still intact.

:bang: Oh, you guys are making me feel dreadful that I haven't been to see this movie yet and am even considering waiting until it comes out on DVD. It sounds awesome! I don't think I have heard of anyone yet who didn't like it.

Oh well....!

On another "Star Trek" related topic, I saw this story regarding the actor Patrick Stewart who played the captain on "Star Trek-The Next Generation" tv show and movies:

He still looks pretty good. I wonder if the next generation will do any more Trek movies????? Next to Kirk, my favorite Star Trek captain is Pickard!!!

Did anyone get to see Leonard Nimoy's (Spock on "Star TreK") appearance on the David Letterman show the other night where he read the Top Ten list? I missed it, but from reading about it, it sounds hilarious:

Although, I'll bet there were some funnier ones they could have come up with. Something with "Tribbles" would have been funny.

Did anyone happen to catch any bloopers or any types of mistakes in the new "Star Trek" movie? I haven't seen it yet, so I can't say. But, here are some that I saw mentioned online:

Found this interview with Leonard Nimoy regarding the new "Star Trek" movie:

Great interview, and I'm glad they let the original Spock be in the film. I haven't seen the movie yet, but I know it must have made a big impact on the film and it's success.
