Actually, many non linear changes happen within the Star Trek universe. Just try to follow OBrien's military rank without getting dizzy.

Bad planning, that's all.

Also: I like Bajorans but Ro Laren annoys me to no end.

Miles O'Brien was a tactical officer! Then he had lieutenant rank pips! Then he went to be DS9 and the Defiant's chief engineer! Call! Fold! Call! Fold! I'm inside your heaaaaaaad!

The whole thing with Kira's rank was she was a major in the Bajoran Defense Force, then they up and made her a colonel. When Starfleet gave her a commission so she could go fight in the Dominion War for reals, they figured "colonel" in the BDF is more or less equivalent to Starfleet's commander rank. (Had she still been a major, I think she'd be a lieutenant commander. But still, had Riker told Kira the Bajoran earring is not part of Starfleet's uniform code, he wouldn't be walking out of Ops, he'd be dragging himself out of Ops with the one limb Kira didn't shatter.)

Looks like there may be "Trekkies" in space for sure. Take a look at this astronaut who posed in a Star Trek uniform while on a mission:

Saw this awesome story yesterday about a Chinese gaming company, I believe it is, that loves Star Trek so much that the building they have is being designed like the Starship Enterprise. Check this out:

I think that looks like the Enterprise-E. Probably.

An interesting conversation between two former Star Trek crew members, aka Captain Kirk (actor William Shatner) and Wesley Crusher from Star Trek: The Next Generation (actor Will Wheaton), and they even talk a little about video games:

Remembering another "Star Trek" actor who has passed away. Yvonne Craig has died at the age of 78 from Cancer. Although she was probably most famous for playing the role of "Batgirl" and "Barbara Gordon" on the 1960's TV series "Batman", she was also famous for a role she played in the classic "Star Trek" series of a green colored Orion slave girl who had dealings with Captain James T. Kirk. She will be missed. Posting more on her other career and her life in a separate topic in the entertainment section of the board.

Why don't I remember her being Barbara Gordon/Batgirl?

(Oh yeah, because I didn't watch the 60s Batman when I was a kid...)

On that note, if anybody here plays Star Trek Online, there's a monument on the upper decks of Earth Spacedock that memorializes deceased Star Trek actors and the more well-known performers/producers/behind-the-scenes personnel. I'm not sure if Yvonne Craig's going to be added to it in a patch.

(I'll post pictures, or at least a text transcript, of the memorial when I get into the game later.)
