Who to carry over in PSIII?

If you've gotten to the second or third generation in Phantasy Star III, you know that Wren and Mieu are carried over to each generation. Everyone else starts at level 1, but are the same as they were at the end of the last generation.

But suppose instead of those two, someone else was carried over from one generation to the next. Which people in each generation would be the best to join the party in the next generation?

It would be nice for Lyle to join in Ayns generation and then when you get Thea he leaves / dies.

First time I played I expected a cagey veteran Lyle to join the group, it would have worked well. Sari joining Sean's group would also have made for a great storyline.

I'd be happy if Laya just kept her stats from Nial's generation when she joins Aron.

It'd be interesting if Lune joined the group in one of the third generations, or if Alair joined the group in Adan's quest.

That would have been fun to see. Along similar lines, it would have been neat if Nial had an encounter with Siren. With an Orakian influence, Siren might have joined up with his sons instead of attacking all the Layans. Although that might be a little redundant with Wren still around.

You know, I'd actually like to see a continuation of Thea. Her stat gains surprised me, and I think at some point she actually surpassed Ayn's HP, if I'm remembering correctly. (Ayn still had good tech levels, making him useful for healing.) Anyway, in Thea's case, it'd be nice to see her as an older, wiser fighter. I'd like to see her in something other than a cute, frilly dress and bows (really, Sega, she was 15, not 9!), too.

I don't know what kind of story it would take to make this plausible, but Lyle joining with Nial would have been really interesting, too. Maybe he could replace Ryan, with Lune's ire being direction towards Lyle instead. Plus, you could make rhyming jokes about Nial and Lyle.

I would of loved if Thea carried over into Crys' story, or even if she was found in some way during Adans and Arons quest. Thea was just a unique character who had the makings for a great story but was sideswiped by Sega's lack of story. I'd also woulda liked if Lena and or Sari were to carry over or at least be found in the other generations.

If it was just me, I would not even carry over anyone. I would like to stick with Generation 1 character. Why? Because they seems like the best "all-around" team of every Generation. Even in the color (I would say, even more in the color). Generation 2 (Nial) and all Generation 3 color scheme for the character are pretty bad if you ask me. I only love the sprites color in Generation 1 and Generation 2 (Ayn).

It was the philosophy of the game to not carry over anybody but the androids. If it was made to switch characters occasionally, like in PS4, it would be great to have Rhys or Lyle return on the second generation, in order to solve some special quest.
