Poking around the PS Zero site, I noticed a little banner on the bottom. Sega is hiring part time workers for the Phantasy Star series.

If you've ever wanted to work for Sega and you happen to live in Tokyo, now's your chance! ;)

The description fits a tester profile - i.e. part-time work, only skill required is Excel. "Video game tester" is one of those jobs that sounds better than it is :p

Sounds awesome. I think I would like a job like that. Out of the question, though, as I don't live anywhere near Tokyo. :yaknow:

That sounds fun but living in Australia I have no hope I would have to move over seas for a decent video game career.

I'm with Hugues here. Have you guys ever seen what video game testing is like?

I had a tester job. It makes you hate everything you love.

Here. What testing is like.

Language warning. F-word present.

That's quite a reality check.

It is unfortunately very close to the reality. Remove the "Nutrient-rich sludge" part and you truly get a good description of game testing.

I used to test for Guillemot, which is a French company, counterpart of Ubisoft. It was the single worst employer I ever had. Well, ok, second worst, but that's another story. I really hate Ubisoft/Guillemot because of that job. It's repetitive, annoying, repetitive, boring, repetitive and harsh. Oh and it's repetitive.

Basically, it's the kind of job every kid wants, so even if you rage-quit when you realize that a tester job means lousy pay, cramped up work space, bad work conditions and excessive hours, they don't care, there's a legion of other foolish teenagers ready to jump in the puddle of vomit you just left behind.
