Christmas budget

Postby Thoul » Wed Dec 19, '07, 2:09 am

When you're buying presents for people for Christmas, do you have a budget that you use as a limit for the number of gifts you buy? Obviously you can't buy more gifts than a certain amount, but do you plan your gift buying based on your available money or the gifts you want to get people?

I don't; I decide ahead of time what gifts I want to get people and then go get those gifts, along with a few smaller things I see that I think people might like.

Yeah, I set aside one or two hundred dollars, or whatever I can spare, and then spend that and no more. Everything is so expensive these day that I can only get a few presents.

I don't buy presents yet, all mine are always made, so far... As for them, I think they'd save up.
Everything has a pattern. Something set. Even random things. They aren't random at all, its complex mathematics. The trick is to find the pattern. Then you can exploit it.

People think things have a certain end. Taxes. Work. Due dates don't really exist. Trust me. When you put a band of world scholars in the same room, and set them on talking about anything, the most interesting topics come up. The existence of negative time. The probability of "random occurrence". The government's involvement in the media. And falsified due dates. They aren't real, trust me....

I don't exactly have a budge to go by - I just buy what I like and try to fit in it somewhere. I always wind up spending more than I wanted to in the first place anyway, lol.

Still no budget for me, although I do watch it closely when buying.

2023 Christmas season and I am still not on a budget for Christmas. I get what I want to and pay for it then. I don't do buy now and pay later as that will get you in trouble after the holidays when the "later" comes and you still may not have the money if you bought too much.
