My original manga

Postby Lyla2284 » Thu Jul 8, '10, 3:20 pm

I decided it's time to showcase some of the original work I've done for the last two years or so.
The above image is from a original manga I did. I just started drawing without having any real storyline in play, so unsuprisingly, I stopped. ^^ I have a few more pages of this, so if you guys are interested, let me know.

Generic indeed. This was before I knew of the horror that is cliches. ^^ The original image is 4 times the size of that image, and when I get the time, I'll colour it as well.

I didn't think you did this sort of stuff, how cool! :D Even if it is a bit cliched, but a little cliche here and there never hurt anyone. :p I heartily recommend you post the other stuff up sometime.

Oh yes. I can do most types of manga, but I do NOT do chibis and shoujo. It's not in my personality to draw stuff like that. >< I can give you a link to the original image as well, but it's HUGE, around 7mb in size. I used to draw Dragonball Z years ago, but not anymore. :D

Everything in this image was hand-drawn with black markers and black ink. The only digitizing done was when I altered the brightness and contrast of the image, it was too light. So I ended up with almost pure black and white, which is very difficult when doing traditional media. The image was drawn in 2008.

I'm only really getting into the swing of things now again. My drawing skill is still a bit rough around the edges, but will get better with practice.

You ain't seen nothing yet... ;)

Hope this image is ok with Thoul. It's not too brutal... I hope. Like all manga, it reads from right to left.

Ah, so it wasn't a white-haired Alys in your previous avatar after all. Sorry. The face resemblance was just uncanny. Something tells me that wasn't a coincidence. That's nice art you got there, anyhow.

Nope, it wasn't. Alys actually forms the basis for most of my original female protagonist characters, probably because I love her design so much. You will never catch me drawing saucer-eyed, tiny-nosed female characters that ooze cuteness. Urgh. Not my style of drawing. I prefer the almond-eyed, straight-nosed female character designs who have a more mature air about them. They tend to kick butt more often as well. ^^

So you're forgiven for mistaking Rei for Alys. ^^
