Ray Harryhausen has passed on.

Postby R-90-2 » Thu May 9, '13, 11:26 pm

Ray Harryhausen, special effects pioneer, died two days ago. Ray Harryhausen was well-known in film for the creation of a type of stop-motion animation that allowed the animation to be properly integrated with the use of live actors, and it is telling that no matter who directed or wrote the films, movies that utilized his creations are generally known as Harryhausen films, such as the Seven Voyages of Sinbad, Jason and the Argonauts, and the original 1982 version of Clash of the Titans. In some ways, he redefines what was truly possible on film.

And, probably the most famous of Harryhausen's sequences.

Do not say: How is it that former times were better than these? For it is not out of wisdom that you ask about this. Ecclesiastes 7:10

Sorry to hear about his passing, and thanks for letting us know about him. I was not familiar with his name but am certainly familiar with many of those classic movies, including the three mentioned in your post above and they were all very exciting and very entertaining to watch. He will be missed. May he r.i.p.
