Update on Elvis week:

A bunch of Elvis mementoes and articles were to be auctioned off today (Thursday) and some of these items are very rare, if not all of them:

Congrats to the winners, whoever they may be!!

Also, a new Elvis stamp was introduced this week. This is the second US stamp to feature Elvis, which is a rare occurance in itself as there are only a few people to be featured on more than one stamp:

Elvis Presley passed away 38 years ago today (August 16, 1977). Sad day, but made brighter by all his songs, movies, and events of his life that he left us with. I took time last night (after watching the candlelight vigil service at Graceland) to listen to and watch many of his songs in videos on youtube, from his very early days when he was just beginning in the entertainment business until some made shortly before he passed away. All were fantastic and showed a tremendous talent. Today I have watched some of his movies (as that was about the only thing worth watching on tv and I happened to be close to the tv doing some other work at the same time. There will never be another talent and human being such as he.

I believe this year marks the 39th anniversary of Elvis' death. As usual a candelight ceremony is being held tonight (August 15) in rememberance and honor of the person many call The King Of Rock And Roll!

The Elvis Candelight Vigil took place on Tuesday night. Thousands of fans were at Graceland to light a candle and walk past Elvis grave to honor him on the anniversary of his death 40 years ago today, August 16, 1977. Elvis' ex-wife, Priscilla Presley, and Elvis' daughter Lisa Marie Presley (and her children) were there last night also. It is always a solemn and bittersweet occasion. I was able to watch it on the live feed they had on online on facebook, etc. Did anyone else watch it? For those that may have missed it, here are some links:
