Sega is holding a contest for Phantasy Star fan art! The winning fan art will be included as an item in PS Portable 2 and the artist will get a free copy of the game! Check out the Sega of America blog post for full details and rules.

If you're thinking of entering, be sure to read the rules carefully. One of the rules is that the fan art can't be published anywhere else already.

The fan art contest is over now. The winners are up at Sega's blog. Both the first place and second place winners are going to be in the game now. This is really great for all Phantasy Star I fans, because a stunning rendition of Alis Landale was the second place winner.

It should have won first place. While the first place winner is mildly entertaining, there's nothing original about it and the Shepard Fairey poster spoofs are now old jokes, gone the way of macro generators at this point.

Dang it! I missed this post. Next time SEGA has something like this, PM me, please!

The Rappy thing would not have been one of my top picks either, but I guess the people at Sega really liked it. From comments on the blog, it was a pretty close thing.

I agree. I saw the first place piece and I was like, um, seriously? No offense to the artist, I just thought no. 2 was more deserving. I loved the other Phantasy Star pieces, too - especially the boss one. ;)

I swear... SEGA is obsessed with any type of Rappy. I'll admit it looked interesting, but I don't think it deserved number one. That Alis one made me take a double look at it's beauty and deserved number one for more reasons than the Rappy.

Well, that's all.

Wow that Alis one really is impressive. I don’t understand how the Rappy one beat it though. I also like the one with all the villains too.

I admit, that fan-art of Alisa is gorgeous. By far the best fan art I've seen. Period. Kind of reminiscent of the Saint Seiya anime show. I can't understand how the Rappy beat it... ><
