Phantasy Star Online 2 begins July 4th

Sega announced today that official service for Phantasy Star Online 2 is scheduled to begin July 4th at 14:00. A timezone wasn't given with this from what I can tell, but I'm assuming it means 14:00 in Japan.

Although the game is free to play, there is also going to be a "premium" edition with an install disc and codes for five weapons and some kind of Mag evolution tool.

There's also a new trailer with some gameplay footage. Nothing groundbreaking here, I think, but there are some weapons I haven't noticed in past videos.

I've been beating myself up over not pre-ordering a copy of this for the past few months now. Actually had the money at the time it was available for pre-order, but had no clue they weren't going to do but one production run. Needless to say, the retial "Special Package" version of PSO almost completely sold out on pre-orders alone, and was entirely off the market by the end of July. Guess who failed to get a copy.

TWEEG : So you finally failed to have your copy ? That is so sad...

Very unfortunate that they only had one run for the production. Maybe you'll be able to pick one up in the secondary market sometime?
