Hey guys,

Does anyone know of a good place in PS1 to do some leveling up, easy kills & good xp?
I did a search before posting and couldn't find anything.
Cheers.

You mean at end game? To get to Level 30? I always use the same spot, 3rd cave starting from the Shuttle on Dezoris. You only fight 1 Ice Dragon at each battle, which gives tons of XP, and since he's alone, he doesn't attack more than once per turn (plus he doesn't have cheap attacks). And because of all that, it's easier to focus ons something else (like TV) while grinding, which make the process less painful.

Anyway, other than the endgame, and at the very beginning, I never farm in the original Phantasy Star. Just by fighting every battles while mapping the dungeons in your head, I always find myself having enough money to buy anything I might need when reaching a new town. Unlike many old-school RPG, you don't need to grind much in this one. Only at the beginning, and you only have one choice, near the town.

Mammoths are the best XP giving monsters from what I hear.

In the early parts of the game I level up on the fishmen on Palma, and the groups of blue sandworms when I reach Motavia. Then like Solar said the Mammoths are good to go up against later on.

Ive been grinding on mammoths and white dragons, I prefer white dragons.
My current levels are:
Alis: 24
Myau: 24
Odin: 25
Noah: 22

To level 30 is just too much of a grind, it's even more grinding than a korean mmorpg.
Just for Alis 25-30, the xp is insane.
25-30: 23,000 - 63,000 = 40,000 xp = 534 White dragons
The stat increases aren't worth the effort.
HP: + 10
TP: + 3
Attack: + 5
Defense: + 5

I'm gonna get my whole party to the level 25 mark then finish the game.
Maybe one day when I have nothing to do I might continue the grind.
My hat goes off to anyone who has reached level 30 on all characters, you're a more patient man than me.

my final levels are, in order of menu list, 25,25,25 & 24. I'm about to enter Air Castle, I might be able to get Noah to 25 during that trip. When I'm done i'll move onto PS2.

Now, this will be a game where you'll grind always through all the game :( Except if you can play it on the Complete Collection, where you can get X4 the experience and meseta, which remove the pointless grinding while keeping the game as challenging as before (grinding is not about difficulty, it's all about how much time you like to waste :) )

One good way to grind experience is the Serpent inside the house by Lassic's palace, they may not be great for experience, but they are easy to kill and you can quickly enter one battle after another, and since that one doesn't drop a chest, the battles go by even faster.
