That would be an interesting place to live. You'd have a nice view most of the time. Most lighthouses are so old that you'd have to put a lot of money into the upkeep, though. I wonder how many are left that don't have much wiring in them. Some of those would be really hard to live in, once you've gotten use to having modern conveniences like the internet.

I love lighthouses! :heartbeat:

I'm not sure I'd want to own one, though. Maybe if I was wealthy and had the money for upkeep I'd consider it. It's always worrisome to me when they're listed for sale to the public, because you can't always trust their new owners will put forth the effort to restore the structures. Did you know that the Chicago Harbor Light was once leased out to Hugh Hefner and his Playboy crowd? I'm fairly certain it caused more damage than good, knowing Mr. Hefner was quite the eccentric party-thrower.

My hope is that a historical preservation group will be the new owners of any lights listed for sale, so that they're given proper restoration and can be opened to the public.

$5,000? If I lived there in US, I'd certainly buy it. I'm crazy for lighthouses (don't ask me why :p). An impressive view down by the sea would be worthy of the investment. Moreover, I'd have a place to store my records and game memorabilia collection, so neither my mom nor my fiancée would complain :p
