Hurricane Season for this year officially begins today, June 1st.

Officials are warning of a possible busy hurricane season for this year:

I sort of like hurricane season, in a weird way. I find hurricanes absolutely fascinating and when there's one out there I'm tracking it obsessively. Hurricanes are nature's power manifested at some of its most incredible levels. Admittedly, when I started college, I was originally going to major in meteorology, so maybe that's why I think like this. ;)

But...this news doesn't bode well for the Gulf Coast.
