Looking to check out the Ultima series

I know they have 3 of them on the NES, and some on the Game Boy and the SNES. I heard that one of them used a generation system similar to Phantasy Star III but the person who said it wasn't sure which one it was.

If you're looking to check out the series it's best to play the computer versions, which can be had for free-cheap on GOG. Haven't played any myself so I can't tell you how they are but if you like old RPGs you'll probably enjoy them.
