Phantasy Star: Fringes of Algo

Sony has officially announced a new slim version of the PlayStation 3. Check out the pictures at IGN: http://ps3.ign.com/articles/101/1015007p1.html

Supposedly it has the same features as the current model, with a 120 GB hard drive, but is 34% smaller and lighter on power usage. The current model is also getting a price cut to $300.

Any thoughts on this? If you don't have a PS3 yet, are you more likely to wait for the slim or get the current system once that price cut goes into place?

I'm all over getting the PS3 slim whenever I get the money. Unless I hear bad things about it, that is.

I was hoping it would be backwards compatible also, but it seems like Sony has just given up on that. I guess they're just trying to keep the PS2 on the market instead.

Oh it looks great! I wish to get PS3 someday. But right now it's too pricy and my xbox360 is good enough for me

Yeah, same here. Even the reduced price is still pretty high, especially with the economy taking such a heavy toll on so many of us these days. The bills have to come before getting a new gaming console.

Looks nice, but I can't install Linux on it like the original PS3

I wish I could get a CECHAxx model of the PS3, that's the one with the hardware-based PS2 backwards compatibility.
