Pill to erase bad memories

Postby Silver_Surfer1 » Wed Feb 18, '09, 7:42 pm

Would you take a pill to erase bad memories? Read the story below:

http://www.zimbio.com/Reuters+Health/ar ... d+memories

And, if the pill is already available as a blood pressure pill, does that mean that people who take it for their blood pressure will also be able to erase their bad memories????? I'm confused. :dizzy:

I don't think that the medicine is erasing bad memories; the people are probably just responding differently to the memories once the medicine is in. I really don't buy the "weakening memories" thing. Still, it's not a bad deal for a phobic like me.

Honestly, I'd never take something like this (even if they ever do perfect it). I'd like to think that one's memories makes them who they are, and altering any part of it can, in theory, change a person. But would it change a person for the better or worse? I don't know. It sounds risky, really... :?

Sounds too good to be true; I'll have to give these drugs a try to see if they really help with phobias.

I agree with Tsu as well. How do they know that it will only target the bad memories? This seems like a labotomy in pill form.
