Sensing the Black Energy Wave

In PSIV, both Rune and Rika verbally state they can sense the Black Energy Wave.
Its also implied that Kyra and Raja can too, but not outright stated.

Now it makes sense an Esper would be able to, given its implied Lutz, could in PSII.

But why Rika?

Hmm, since she was artifically created, was she perhaps created with better senses than other humans?

Impossible to have an explanation here...
