...in Japan that is. So everyone who are ready for a big grind party filled with repetition and a shallow storyline, rejoice, because the time has finally come :)

Available on UMD (many editions available with goodies not so great inside the box), and PSN.

Well, you surely dislike Phantasy Star Portable. I've never seen such a discouraging release message :p

I don't know what you're talking about :-D

To be frank, for those who like those kind of games (hack-and-slash, grind-fest, loot finding...in other words, the big evolution of Diablo...but even more mindless), I guess those can be good games.

But for those who thinks Phantasy Star should be about the storyline, the settings, and no repetition, everything based on the single-player experience, than it's a stab in the heart everytime. I give some credits to PSO, which while not very long, and a story with some mystery around it, and they were trying to give us something more mature and less anime-cliche. Of course, it become boring quite quickly, but at least the first playthrough of story mode was...interresting (not as much as the classic saga, but interresting at least)...

But everything have been lost everything Satoshi Sakai took over, and that started with Phantasy Star Universe. Since then, everything went downhill non-stop. Phantasy Star Portable 2 was really the last time I could endure something like this...and I admit I was curious about the Dewman in infinity and I tried the demo...and without knowledge of Japanese, it's easy to see that it's going to be, once again, a train-wreck. The very first minute we see Hyuga in the beginning and it's dialogue with Emelia, you can feel that they try to continue in this ultra J-Pop anime culture which I hate in a game about sci-fi fantasy.

Of course, everything here is personal opinion :)

To be honest--I've never tried any of the modern Phantasy Stars. The only PS's I've played are the classic kind. I've never really liked where Sega has taken the PS franchise: I want a real installment with the traditional RPG set up.

Still, I should try one of the PS portables and PSO's and PSU's before I drink the hatorade. They're making these types of games for a reason.

I admit I've never played any Phantasy Star game after Phantasy Star IV, but now that I own a PSP (my last console was a Sega Genesis), I'm inclined to try one of the Phantasy Star Portables to see if it is real crap or if, though not like the original series' games, it is still good.

PSP for PSP is like a poorly scaled down version of PSU that gameplay aside removed all of the secondary features that were of value to the PSU franchise. PSP2 Is like a version of PSU without any noticeable bugs.

Keep in mind that the chronology of the PSU franchise is a follows:
PSU
PSU: AotI (Ambition of the Illuminus)
PSP (Phantasy Star Portable)
PSP2 - This marks the rebirth of this franchise, which is a very good thing.
PSP2:I (Infinity)

And PSO I'd like to think is Sega's greatest contribution to mankind since a certain blue hedgehog.

Well, it would be weird to see you Tweeg talking bad about PSO :)

I can give credits a little bit to PSO, even though it's not my style of game

But I will never accept anything else anymore ever since PSU...

You gave the same link :) But anyway, one word: Disgusted! (Though I admit I would buy a beach towel with Classic Saga characters on it...even if I would be thinking they're really milking it WAY TOO MUCH).

And I even posted it in the wrong topic too! :hypnotized:
