In order to fit more content on the small memory resources of the Master System cartridge, the developers designed a graphic system that allowed them reuse one common set of designs for every dungeon. The various dungeons throughout the game all referenced those patterns, changing the colors for variety. This particular dungeon used a dark blue basis.
