Phantasy Star IV: Zema's Curse Broken

Postby Thoul » Wed Sep 2, '09, 12:12 am

In the town of Zema, the citizens are overjoyed to find themselves, and their family members, cured from the ancient petrification curse cast by Zio. The heroes have finally restored everyone in the city, bringing this long nightmare to an end. This is the only really good look at the general Palman populace from the game's cutscenes. For people living in a desert world, they certainly do appear to dress rather warmly.

Yes, but the human populace are still called Palmans because their race came from Palma. :) Or actually I think it's "Parmanians" from Parma in PSIV technically, but I prefer Palmans.

PSIV calls them Parmanians. The alternative- Palmans- is much preferred. (At least Japan consistently calls Palmans "Paruma-jin.")

PSII and PSIII call Palmans humans. Possibly a result of cross-cultural contamination from Earth in PSII's case, the effects of one thousand years' exodus from Algo for PSIII, or crappy inconsistent blind idiot-quality translation.

Bumping up this former Image Of The Day!

An interesting look at the people and place of Zema

Good point Thoul made about them appearing to dress very warmly for a desert world. Maybe they are trying not to get to sunburned or something. Any other ideas?

Happy to see those happy moments in Zema ! And about the explanation concerning the dresses, it's hard to tell..maybe specifically in Zema, it's less warm ? Not sure as we can see many things tied to desert worlds ! ;)
