Phantasy Star Ø: Kai

In this Sega promotional still taken from the opening movie, we get our first good look at Kai. He has a big "wild west" theme about his character. His clothes look like something out of a Gene Autry movie. For a weapon, he uses massive gun blade that is nearly as tall as Kai himself. You can see the handle there; it too adds to the classic western motif by looking a bit like a sawed off shotgun. I wonder what the story behind his scar will be?

You know, I'm kinda reminded of Lunar: SSSC's Kyle when I see that guy, even though they don't really look that alike. Anyways, he looks like a cool dude~

It looks like Squall (the gunblade (cloud's size), the scar, the pose...) with some Irvine inspirations.

That is more than a passing similarity, isn't it? I wonder if it was intentional or someone just overlooked this one. It's hard to imagine that someone working on character design for an RPG would miss that kind of issue with a Final Fantasy character, but I suppose it's possible.

Bumping up this former Image Of The Day!

Now this looks like an interesting fellow! His outfit, his hair, his scar, his sort of menacing facial expressions, and just look at that big gun!!!!!!!!!!!! Kai certainly does not look like a dull guy.
