Phantasy Star IV Pirate Versions: Cracking Stone, Part 2

Postby Thoul » Sat Nov 15, '08, 7:00 am

Continuing from "Cracking Stone, Part 1," we get to see more of the stone breaking off from Holt's body thanks to the Alshline. This is another buggy scene like the early Hahn and Alys image. It begins as "Cracking Stone, Part 1," then quickly lays two others on top of that, giving what you see here as the final product. An error on the artist's part, however, has reversed which side of Holt's face is covered in stone.

Ahh, creepy! Nice catch, Lucas. Given all the effort these pirate versions put into Holt, I wonder how that would happen.

I didn't even notice that. Very strange!

One theory I have is that maybe the emulator isn't rendering scenes like this quite right. It was hard to find an emulator that would even run the game because it uses some unusual mappers. Or it could just be weirdness in the game, I don't know.
