Phantasy Star IV: Liftoff

Engines roaring, the Landale lifts off into the sky. It's really interesting, in a way. From this, we can see it has vertical takeoff abilities. The actual flight of the ship during the game shows no indication of that, however.

Very interesting pic and I didn't notice it before : the Landale seems to take off like an helicopter ! But you are right : in the game there is absolutely no hint about it as the ship is taking off and land in an horizontal position, if I remember well !

Hahn: Rune, seriously, stop shooting Legeon and Efess bolts at the ship. It's not coming back.

Gryz: Uh, I'm no Buck Rogers space explorer type, but I think if you shoot the Landale down you're gonna kill everyone on it.
