This is the start of a running gag in the first half of
Phantasy Star IV. Hahn, an assistant to Professor Holt at Piata's Academy, has been waiting for Alys and Chaz. They were hired to investigate the Academy's basement; Hahn believes this is connected to the disappearance of Holt. He wants to tag along with the Hunters to find the professor. Alys, ever a shrewd businesswoman, agrees to let him join - for the cost of 100 Meseta! Hahn's sweat drop indicates his disbelief at the proposition, but he eventually agrees to her terms.
