Meet the Old Man, leader of the tribe of Musk Cats that live on Dezoris in Phantasy Star IV. Under his care, the last few remaining cats have shelter in the only warm location on the icy planet. Usually the talking felines avoid contact with humans, but they welcome our heroes due to a "feeling of fond remembrance." Perhaps in some way they are able to recognize Rune Walsh as Lutz due to memories of the travels of Myau and Noah. Whatever the case, this old cat gives Myau's best weapon to Rika as a way of helping their cause.

Aw, poor Myau (assuming the Old Man is Myau). Stuck in that cave when he has wings.

He probably would have been better off in Elsydeon with Alisa and co. 2000 years... he must really be missing them...

I can remember the first time I encountered the Old Man in PSIV. I thought he was a boss so I prepared my party and healed everyone up only to charge in and have a conversation with him. He then gave me the silver tusk he was the nicest boss I ever encountered. :lol:

@ Gryz: I never noticed that. Maybe it was just a memory Alis’s spirit wanted to show Chaz of the first generation of heroes together and the Old Man is still Myau alive…I dunno :blank:

Compendium:

Musk Cats (I, II, IV)
Animals possessing high intelligence. Alisa's loyal partner from AW 342 on, Myau, endeared the species to the humans of the time, and there was a boom in Musk Cats as pets.
Their high intelligence allows all Musk Cats to understand the human language, but Myau's powers of comprehension far exceed any other Musk Cat's. (He was probably a mutation.)
A few of the cats abandoned by their owners after a mining accident in AW 1281 lingered in Skure, and, afterwards, their descendants founded their own village.

Interesting that the compendium doesn't state whether Myau is male or female.

If we follow PS IV, Musk Cats have a high mental ability and a group consciousness. Memories would be shared.

Hmm . . . it's Myau to me.

And on a related note, I wonder what it's like for all the PS heroes to be gathered in Elsydeon (I have seen the big list of 'Conversations within Elsydeon').

Logically it's Myau ! But it's strange that, in the game, there is no clear reference to him ! And more than that, when you meet him, Thray/Rune (so Lutz) don't speak with him, there seems to be no relations between the two...and when I played the game I was disappointed !
