One of the many underutilized aspects of Phantasy Star III is the fortune teller shop. Instead of being available in each town like other shops, the fortune teller is found only in Landen. When the player visits this shop, you can get a glimpse of what lies in wait for the future. In some ways, however, this fortune is not very accurate. It is certainly cryptic enough, though!

I have read somewhere that there were plans for the fortune teller to be used more often in the game, but alas, there is only one fortune to be had. By the way, how many of you thought this was a woman? It's a guy, complete with a moustache. I never looked at it that closely before now, so all these years I thought this was a gal.

The fortune teller was something of a letdown. The first time I ever played through PSIII was the Sean route which means I went through Ayn's quest first. By the time he finally reached Landen I headed straight for the fortune teller's shop and was disappointed to find it abandoned.

I'm in the same boat as hugues I chose Ayn's quest to and never encountered the fortune teller either.

I never played that far into Phantasy Star III. D:
I probably would've thought that the fortune teller was a girl myself. I have this little ideal that all fortune tellers are women. Don't ask me why, it's just how I think.

I always thought it was a man. o_O Too creepy to be an old lady, methinks, lol. Shame that there weren't more fortunes to be told, though.

Bumping up this former Image Of The Day!

The Fortune Teller - easy to mistake him for woman, I suppose, but yeah, I think I can see the mustache if I look close enough. Lol, on Jubily's comments above, and I agree.
