I think that a lot of luck is required while playing this Hordes of Nei ! One day I'll try to continue it but unfortunately, I don't have much time on my hands lately ...
I'm playing through this right hack right now. I played it a few years ago and lost interest for some reason. I decided to wait until I did another playthrough of the retranslation hack first because it took me until last week to realize that it had FM sound due to being the Japanese version.
Anyway, as for Hordes of Nei, I've just defeated Medusa, bought the Neishot to go along with the Laconian Axe, and I'm off to Dezoris. So far I've been good about not using save states, but I have been using fast forward to make grinding less tedious. To be fair, I might have to cave in with the save states once I get to Lassic; it sounds like it will be a pain ). It's definitely been an intense experience to say the least: much harder than PSII and possibly even the Hell/Purgatory hacks for PSIV, the latter of which I barely managed to beat. Still, if you're up for a challenge, definitely give it a go.

I spent about 20-30 minutes between killing White Dragons and exploiting the Rise trick to get everyone up to level 30 (gotta love that fast forward, BTW ). Even then, Lassic was as huge an annoyance as I thought he'd be, but I found it to be slightly easier if you have Alis heal Lutz in the first round; Lassic usually gets a hit or two in before you do, so having Lutz be healed immediately ensures that he'll survive another round to use Thunder. Dark Force was much simpler, but he wasn't a walk in the park either. Not only did Lutz die, but Alis and Myau ran out of magic, so I was getting a little anxious for a few minutes. It all worked out in the end, though.
Actually, when I first tried Hordes of Nei a few years back, I was also using my PSP (I had finally figured out how to get emulators on there). This time I was using my iPhone for the sake if convenience; I'm always carrying the thing everywhere I go, so why not?

Nicely done. Dark Falz does feel more like a boss fight now, but he's still easier than Lassic in my opinion. Nice twist having Alis heal, I can't remember if I did that. I think I went all out offensive in the first round trying to dish out as much damage as I could. Myau was on heal for Noah and I always hoped he healing wasn't wasted (of course the first time it was because my Myau struck first, the second time Noah was dead before Myau got his turn).
I haven't play through it for a very long time ! And I don't think I'll play it again as I'll play less now as my girlfriend is going to arrive soon .. And like I've said it before : I'm not a big fan of very hard games but this was cool to test it ! Congratulations to the people who have finished it !

OUPS ! I haven't seen your answer, dear Fogeltje ! And more than 2 years and a half here it is ! Alas, I haven't played more of HON.. and my girlfriend wasn't injected by PS VIRUS, even if she had played some games ! How are you Fogeltje ? Fine I hope !
