Everyone who played a lot of Phantasy Star knows the benefits of giving Odin a gun instead of a sword or axe. In Phantasy Star generation 1, the guns have been rebalanced to match the changed battle system. Pistols like the one in this sprite sheet now target only a single enemy, but also allow Odin to shoot that target twice. Each shot has an individual chance to miss and has less impact than a sword or axe available in the same area. If both shots hit, however, the pistol will cause a greater HP loss and put that foe closer to death's door. Several pistols are available during the course of the game, including the Heat Gun and Needle Gun. One pistol found in the tunnel near Bortevo is named simply "Rifle," an odd choice considering that rifles are one of Odin's other weapon types.

Interesting ! I've never seen those animations, so that's a very good choice !! So only one target but two shots ? Seems to be less interesting than in PSI but it depends on the damages each pistol could inflict.
And sgtrange about the rifle.

Odin: *blam blam blam blam blam blam click* Look at that grouping, you guys!
(Odin shows the group his firing range target. He blasted an "XD" smiley into the target's face)
Alisa: That's cool, but...
Odin: But what?
Alisa: How come you're still not using your shield?
Odin: I am! Honest!
Lutz: And that's only a pistol... didn't we find you a hunting rifle on Motavia?
Odin: Yeah. It's in my holster right now.
Myau: But you were just firing a pistol!
Alisa: Guys, let's... let's not question this anymore.
Lutz: And of pressing matter is, how much ammunition do you carry for your weapon, Odin?
Odin: (points at infinity design on his holster) Don't worry. Infinite ammo.
Alisa, Myau, and Lutz: (sweatdrop)
