Early in her adventure, Alis must board a space vessel bound for the desert planet, Motavia. This view can be seen during the trip. In Phantasy Star, each planet was displayed as a recolored version of a single design. Now they have been updated, giving the worlds a distinct look that reflects their climate. For Motavia, we have a barren looking brown world with little cloud cover, but what might be an ice cap on the southern pole. We can also see the addition of a single moon.

The original Phantasy Star featured a scene in a similar theme, but that actually displayed the ship's full flight - from launch to moving between planets to landing - on screen. The remake simply puts up this screen for the space portion of the journey.

Even for a desert planet, that looks a lot less habitable than it does in any of the games!

It does look decidedly inhospitable (reminds me a bit of Mars), but also a lot bigger than the explorable area in game. I imagine this must be the opposite side of the planet, far removed from the areas we can travel across. If not, that big lake near Paseo and Sopia would be visible, but I can see no indication of it here.

Seems effectively to be a photo of Mars in this version. And here we can seethe WHOLE planet : in the first one, we were only seeing the "middle" of the planet.
True that the moon and the ice cap (like in Sonic III ;)) have been add.
Ah ? We don't see the plane/spaceship ? Too bad...

Bumping up this former "Image Of The Day" of the planet Motavia. An interesting looking planet.

Very interesting looking planet ! Ah the planets for all the Phantasy Stars are indeed great :)
And here yes, the white part at the "bottom" is quite strange indeed...
