Phantasy Star fighting game

Postby MrKite » Sun Dec 27, '09, 8:25 pm

Years ago when I first became a phan, I dreamt of what it would be like if there was this one-on-one arcade fighting game featuring characters from Phantasy Star 1, 2, 3 and 4. But in 2D though, because I'm tired of this 3D stuff. The best title I can come up with at the moment is Phantasy Star Arcade. Wouldn't that be great though? To have your favorite PS character duke it out with another favorite PS character of yours?

I suppose I wouldn't mind seeing Rune Walsh in a fight.

Preferably shirtless.

Yeah and then have Lashiec as the Final Boss.
Not to mention fighting games have lots of secret characters so there could be a few extra characters in there for when you meet certain conditions like getting a perfect win or beating the game five times with a different character.

That would be pretty fun. I'd hope it went to a good developer, though. It would be too easy to make some characters carbon copies of each other. Nei and Rika, for instance. They should each have some unique moves.

I would play it. Especially if it was set up like Smash Brothers.
Next Pokemon game(s): Pearl
Last finished Pokémon game: Shield
Other games: Skyrim Special Edition (Switch), Spyro Reignited Trilogy (Switch & PS4), Okami (Switch & PS4)
Other gaming goals: completing a Living Pokedex (minus some event Pokes) and going through at least 1 game per generation

No, I meant a fighting game in the traditional one on one fighting style, ala Street Fighter, King of Fighters, etc.

I'm just not a big fan of traditional style fighters as a whole though. Not really my thing. If there was a Phantasy Star fighter like that, I'd give a try, at least, but I doubt I'd like it.

Perhaps alternate costumes?
Maybe we'll see Alys in a bikini. >.>

AS for the title, other than Phantasy Star Arcade, you could slap another random title on the end. Maybe like Phantasy Star Forever, or Phantasy Star Arena.
A simple text based signature? That's impossible!

I’d also rather it be set up like a Street Fighter or a KOF fighter. Those games are how fighting games should be. Not that I dislike Super Smash Bros or Tekken. But I prefer the set-up of the originals way better. Maybe even if it were 3D but keeping to a 2D plain like Street Fighter IV does.

As for a title I reckon Phantasy Phighter would work. But the name would have to be written in the same style as the logo for the Original Phantasy Star to give the idea its not just a bunch of random fantasy characters, and its characters are from Sega’s merchandise. :)

Only if I get Alisa and Mieu in bikinis. Or cheongsams. =p

And yes, it needs to be Phantasy Phighter in the original PSI/II/IV font. Style-wise, it needs to be done like One Must Fall 2097- one on one, hazardous arenas, 2D fighting, with an HP meter, a Stun meter, and maybe a TP meter (so Rolf can't spam Megid over and over again).
