Another staple item of the Phantasy Star series first appearing in Phantasy Star II is the Telepipe. The item's function was actually introduced in the previous game with another tool, the Transfer. When used, Transfers would magically whisk our heroes off to the last church used to save the game. The first sequel renamed this item to Telepipe and altered the design, basing it on an ocarina, but retained the same transporting ability. The warping feature would be greatly refined in Phantasy Star IV with an ability to select a destination from a list of previously visited locations.

Trans[f]ers (JP: Transcarpet) contained Fly (JP: Torupa) power to go to churches.

Since in PSII there's no more religion (maybe all priests and clericals saw Lutz as the messiah and become Espers to follow him), Palmans had to find another way to travel to safe areas.

So they started to use Ryuukaa power inside Telepipes (JP:Ocarina of Travel).

In PSIV, when we use the Telepipe we can hear the 6 notes they play with the ocarina. Those notes in that order will trigger the Ryuka technique.

Neither did I ! The link between the notes and the ocarina song ! But that's pretty obvious but sometimes evident linking is hard to find at the first time
