This artwork from the Phantasy Star III manual displays the use of a technique in combat. As Nial rushes toward an unseen foe, Mieu provides support with one of her techniques. While we cannot identify exactly which technique Mieu is using, some clues can help us limit the possibilities to two options. As her healing abilities are highlighted much better in another illustration, this may be one of her order techniques. Of those, there are two that would be of merit in this scene: Fanbi and Shu. Respectively, these two boost the attack or defense of an ally. Either would be useful to Nial as he closes on his opponent.

Ah an artwork I think I've never seen before ! Even if it's in the PSIII manual, didn't really notice it and wants to read the manual more carefully.
Good one ! Maybe the magic that raises his attack ?

I think it is the defense-magic Shu. Shu has a blue graphical effect when used on a character. And the blue magic in front of Nial looks like a magic shield or barrier. Nice to see an artwork that shows Nial. There are just too little artworks of the 2nd or 3d generation heroes. I've never seen this one either and I must say, like the picture very much.

About SHU maybe you're right ! But I must confess that I'm not very good on Phantasy Star II magic spells.. (never really used them...) : 2d or Third generations aren't freally drawn in all PSIII artwork...

From a "Street Fighter" perspective it looks as though Mieu shot out Nial like a hadouken! In all seriousness I like this art. :D
