Phantasy Star Collection (Saturn): Worldship to Zio

This page of storyboards from Phantasy Star IV covers quite a bit of the game. It starts with the discovery of the crashed ship from the exodus of Palma, where Rika explains to Chaz and Alys that survivors escaped in ships like the Alisa III from Phantasy Star III. The next board jumps to the top of Zio's tower, with an aborted drawing of his captive. That's followed by a complete sketch of the captured Demi. The unfinished drawing gives the captive elf-like ears. Could it be that the writers originally planned for Rika to be captured by Zio, rather than Demi? The final storyboards on this page plot Zio's introduction and the fatal blow to Alys.

Those protrusions look a bit low to be ears, too far forward compared to Rika's ears. I think they match more with those spikes on Demi's neck, they point downward and presumably just slightly rearward in relation to her head. My guess is that the abortive appearance of the frame was supposed to match up with coloring to provide a shadowed look like on Wren's foreshadowing pic (http://www.psalgo.com/full-image-548.html). The second more detailed frame might be what would be seen when the group actually encounters her.

It would be nice to have a newman captured instead of Demi, but since Rika already appears on the first sketch, carlsojos explanation may be correct.

Also, Demi seams to have that "Nuku nuku" ears
