Phantasy Star Collection (Saturn): Ryre & Pike

The fifth piece in a series of eight featuring the main party members of Phantasy Star IV is also the first to highlight two people at once. In this case, it is Alys and Gryz, or rather Ryre and Pike to use the odd romanizations of their Japan version names shown here. Usually Alys is presented as Lyla and Gryz as Pyke. I suppose Pike is okay too, but Ryre? What where they thinking? Enjoy the sketches; most of them are not reused later in the Phantasy Star Collection (Saturn) galleries.

Rune: (confused) ..."Ryre?"
Alys: One, it's "Lyla," not "Ryre." Two, not if you want to live. Calling me Lyla Brangwyn is one of the six most dangerous things in the world!
Rune: Do tell. I'll be right back.

(shuffles over to Chaz)

Rune: Hey, Chaz. Do me a favor.
Chaz: This doesn't involve me trying to get Rika into the Mieu costume again, does it? She said it made her butt look big...
Rune: Better. Ask Alys how her sister's doing. Ryre Brangwyn.
Chaz: I... okay. Maybe she hasn't seen her in a long time... (he goes off)
Rune: (to himself) Mieu costume, huh. Good to know.

Chaz: Hey, Alys? How's your sister?
Alys: Huh? What are you talking about, Chaz?
Chaz: Your sister Ryre.
Alys: ...What.
Chaz: Ryre Brangwyn. Unless she got married, and-
Alys: Hang on a second. Shift. (approaches Rune. Insert Minor Circuit theme from Punch-Out here.)
Rune: Ohhhh crap.
Alys: Round one FIGHT! (starts beating the Laerma juice out of Rune)

So Gryz is now named after a type of fish
