It is difficult to say which portion of Phantasy Star IV was plotted out on these storyboards. It's clearly one of the many instances where Rune was giving Chaz a rough time. Rika seems to be getting in on that fun a bit, too. This sequence might not have been used in the final product. If you look closely, you can see that Rune's collar is that of the turtleneck shirt from a early design, which is different from his final appearance. It's also unusual to see Chaz carrying a lot of gear on his back; the Phantasy Star IV cast is rarely depicted carrying anything other than a weapon.
