When designing characters, artists will often practice drawing the character with a variety of facial expressions from many different angles. This technique has been used by game designers, television developers, and even comic book pencillers. The main cast of Phantasy Star IV received this treatment as well. Here we can see some of Rika's various expressions with some sad and incredulous faces.
