An annual meteor shower is currently gracing our skies. The best time to view the shower is coming up in the next couple of days. Here's a link with details on the history of the meteor shower and the best time to view it in different parts of the world:

That article says one might see 100 meteors or more if looking at the correct time. That sounds like a pretty impressive sight. Anyone going to try to watch this shower?

I am now! I'll find a good place to pull over on my way home from work and watch for a while.

Interesting Phantasy Star connection: The Perseid meteors, as their name suggests, radiate out from the constellation Perseus. Perseus is home to Algol, and depending on how you connect the stars to form the constellation, Algol is either the decapitated head of Medusa, or Perseus' hip/leg.

Wow, that's interesting Tanith.

I would love to see this, but living in a city doesn't give me the pleasure due to all the lights. If I were to go about fifteen minute drive away from the city, I'd be happy and stare at the sky all I wanted till I went home. x3

Nice catch, Tanith. I read a bit about the constellations involved, but didn't make that connection.

Hm, so these are meteors from Algol! I wonder if there's any laconia ore in them? ;)

Well, the real Algol is known as the "Demon Star" and in astrological terms it's deemed the most "unfortunate" of the stars. Its appearance in your astrological birth chart usually denotes, well, something unfortunate. So anyway, perhaps the meteor shower is more of the Profound Darkness' doings? ;) The PS Algo does seem to go through some very unfortunate events, doesn't it?

@Thoul- Now I'll be thinking about laconia while watching the shower. :D

Well, if it is PD's doing, then technically, wouldn't the meteor shower be Megid? >.>

I saw 4 meteors out of the corner of my eye. I was out there for 45 minutes. XD My camera didn't get any.
