September 4th is a day for a lot of "National", but unofficial, days, and below are some of the special events being recognized on this day:

And, today (September 4, 2015) also happens to be "Force Friday", which probably won't be a "National Day" or a yearly event either but a one time day where many stores will be having sales on various "Star Wars" merchandise in anticipation of the new "Star Wars" movie being released later this year.
