Oprah's Favorite Things

There's lots to talk about on the smaller screen.

Oprah's Favorite Things

Postby Silver_Surfer1 » Tue Nov 20, '07, 8:55 pm

Wow, I heard that Oprah was doing her annual show of favorite things (Christmas gifts, etc.) live this year from Macon, GA., in appreciation of the fact that many people from Macon watch her show regularly. :tree:

I have watched some of these shows in years past and the audience really receives a lot of great gifts. I think one year Oprah gave everyone a car.

These are fun shows. Anybody remember watching any of these shows in past years and what the gifts given out were? I can't wait to see what gifts will be handed out this year, even if I won't be in Macon. :hyper:

lol I watched one were she gave a whole group of people makeovers from professional stylists. My aunt said I should've participated in one.
Everything has a pattern. Something set. Even random things. They aren't random at all, its complex mathematics. The trick is to find the pattern. Then you can exploit it.

People think things have a certain end. Taxes. Work. Due dates don't really exist. Trust me. When you put a band of world scholars in the same room, and set them on talking about anything, the most interesting topics come up. The existence of negative time. The probability of "random occurrence". The government's involvement in the media. And falsified due dates. They aren't real, trust me....

When I hear about things like this, I always think to myself, "Some people have a little too much money if they can afford to do things like this." :D But hey, that just goes to show how successful they are.

On the other hand, you hear about celebrities like Michael Jackson who're millions in debt and can't afford things for too long. At least he can use his upcoming 50th birthday as an opportunity to make some more money, or something like that (though I doubt he'll be able to get himself outta debt completely).

Oprah has been very successful in many different fields of entertainment, of that there is no doubt, and she is one of the wealthiest women in the world, I think. To her credit, she does "share her wealth" with others in many ways, and the "gift show" is just one example of that.

Hard to believe that Michael Jackson may be having a 50th birthday already. He has been in the entertainment field for a long time. I really don't think much about the reports of him being so far in debt, and stuff like that. If he really wanted to get out of debt and such, it seems as simple as making the next hit record, or making several personal appearance concerts, or anything such as that. He could rake in the dough in many ways if he really wanted to, I think.

Doesn't he still have the rights to the Beatles' songs? He should be able to make a fortune of that alone.

A lot of people criticize Oprah for the gift shows, but I bet none would turn down the free car if they had been there that day. ;)
