Okay, somebody answer this for me.

How come in this guy's version of Phantasy Star on the SMS, the music sounds different?

Not just than most versions, but every SMS game overall?

The Japanese Sega Master System (the Sega Mark III) had a different (read: better) sound chip. Hence, better music.

Too bad the Wii version doesn't have the better music ;_;

Just tried the japanese ROM out. The enhanced sound chip in this version seems to work on the KEGA emulator, but when you play that version on the Meka emulator, there is no sound enhancement, and it sounds the same as the english version. Weird....

Hang on, lemme load up Meka real quick and see what to do...

All right, I'm back, and yes, I really did just open Meka 0.69b up to take a look. Go into the Sound menu, and choose FM Unit|Enabled.

Then again, I'm using the Japanese ROM with the SMS Power! translation, so what do I know =p

it was really great to finally be able to play PS1 with FM sound

however... i didnt appreciate the re-translation, i wish he just reused the english text

youd think the SMS power guys could of done it easily, before bothering to do the retranslation text... but nope
