Me too I prefer an attack button. Ha I didn't know all those features on the DS version ! I think I'lml try to get a hold on it soon ;) . I haven't bought a DS game for many months...the attack button must change a lot of things and I'm eager to try it.
About the remake on Vita unfortunately I don't know : sorry...

An attack button is fine when the game is designed that way, and not just tacked on to a game that it doesn't belong in. Ys Eternal isn't like the old games, it plays so quick. Tacking on an attack button forces you to stop and attack, and the attack range is terrible.

Also IIRC there are only 2 ways to play the DS version. If you play with the D-Pad, you have to use the attack button, if you wanted to play with the bump system they forced to you to use the Stylus. You can't play with the bump system using the D-pad.

Ah I haven't seen that when you posted it ! Great !!:) But no Ps vita for me for the moment... :(

@ Wanderers from Ys : you can't use the bump system with the D pad, like an old version of Ys ? So sgtrange ! But if they made this decision...would have been cool to have the possibility to choose !

That's correct. If you play with the D-pad you have to use the attack button or you will take damage, if you want to play the classic way you have use the stylus. It's a huge oversight. They could've just not disable the D-Pad, so you could still use it in Stylus mode. I don't know why they didn't give people the option of playing the way they are used to playing.

The other problem with the DS game is the graphics. They tooks Ys Eternals beautiful 2D graphics, and gave it 3D perspective, and it came out terrible. Check a few videos on youtube and you will see the difference.

The choice isn't possible and that's so bad...it's strange.

I will watch some videos on Youtube and I'll give my opinion on it (and maybe later try to have the game !) 3D perspective can really be awful if it's badly implemented...

I didn't think the graphics were bad in the DS game, it looked like the best quality the DS could do, and its at least better than the Master System's graphics.

So there is two different opinions on the graphical part of this port !
After seeing some videos on youtube, I think that the graphics are great for an ancient (vanished omens ? ;) ) ds game : so I'll try to buy it soon or late.
Th 3D rendering isn't as bad as i thought. And what about the music ? Good transposition ?

Compare the graphics to Ys I & II Chronicles for PSP. Also notice how smooth it runs compare to the choppy DS port.

That's all, I won't try and convince you any further. I would just hate to see someone form an opinion of the series based on that terrible port. If you don't have a PSP than try it, if you have a PSP, then definately go that route, since a lot of Ys games are on there anyway.

I have to say no, don't misunderstand, it's still a great soundtrack, but the DS just cannot do what the PSP did with the songs. The PSP version not only had all the songs remastered by Falcom's fantastic house band, JDK Band, but it also gives you the option to switch between THREE different soundtracks whenever you want: The awesome JDK Band remakes meant for Chronicles, the all synth Ys I&II Complete version, and the original PC-88 version in all it's chip-tune glory!

Speaking of Ys music, I think it's time for a new question on this topic:
What is your favorite Ys song?

For me, I have two favorites that I can put into two catagories
Favorite chip-tune song: Valestein Castle (Ys III: Wanderers From Ys Genesis/Mega Drive version)

Favorite real instrument song: Tension (Ys I PSP Chronicles version)
