Chimp goes crazy, attacks woman

Postby Silver_Surfer1 » Tue Feb 17, '09, 11:34 pm

Sad ending to a story about a chimp who went nuts all of a sudden and viciously attacked it's owner's friend:

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/29227429?GT1=43001

This is a sad story, both from the victim's view point and the ape's view point as well. I maybe wrong, but I don't think they should have been giving that ape any drugs. No telling what went wrong with him, and if the drugs were a factor in that, or not.

The chimp had seemed to have led a very productive life before all this.

I've heard of the story, but I didn't hear the ending. What a terrible way for the chimp to go. :(

It's horrible that this happened. I hope the victim can recover.

The chimp had seemed to have led a very productive life before all this.

When I heard a report about this one TV, they said one thing I didn't see in the article above: he had been in TV commercials, too. They mentioned Coca-Cola and one other product I can't remember.

Thoul, I think the other product was " Old Navy ". It is mentioned at the very last of the article here, I think.

In another article I found on this story, there was a comment by an actress (Morgan Fairchild) who was in one of the commercials with this ape, and she talked about how well mannered he was, etc., but keep in mind that this commercial took place years ago, I think. A lot could have happened between then and now.

Bumping this thread up as the victim's family have filed a 50 million dollar lawsuit against the chimps owner:

50 million?!? That's not even a little unrealistic, no sir. :bang: The lawsuit itself was almost a given considering what happened, but there's no way they'll be able to get that amount.

Lawsuit was inevitable. But 50 million?! Geez! Have dog owners ever been sued for this much when their pet attacks someone?!

That's pathetic. Reminds me of how sad it was when that lady successfully sued McDonalds because SHE spilled coffee on herself and then claimed she didn't know it was hot. I really feel sad for my daughter because she's going to be surrounded by STUPID people.
