I ended up watching the press conference at work. It looks interesting and I want to get one. I'm most excited about all the JRPGs that the system seems to be getting. Also for those interested, the system will be sold on March 3, 2017 and it's suggested retail price is $300.

I need to see more than Mario and Zelda before I get excited about the Switch.

Another Metroid game might get me excited but I'm pretty sure we have a greater chance of hell freezing over first.

The follow up presentation was disappointing. Nintendo still just can't quite catch up with the rest of the industry when it comes to online services, and I'm STILL amazed that they will not release their massive back catalog in digital format in anyway that makes sense. The drip feed and inability to carry purchases across consoles is absurd. I'm also not pleased with the continued emphasis on motion control gimmicks. We'll see how it does and it's clearly selling well going by preorders, but a solid launch =/= sustained interest, and while I think it's going to do well at first due to Zelda alone, I'm a bit skeptical of of the sustained interest part right now.

Other gaming goals: completing a Living Pokedex (minus some event Pokes) and going through at least 1 game per generation

Wolf Bird : I know xwhat you're trying to tell here and I think you're right : even me, who isn't a big fan of online gaming (far to be one !) it's a strange decision : but maybe it'll change later ? :)

Just wondering if anyone has bought a Switch yet? If so, how do you like it, or not? Any problems with it so far?

I am considering buying one but still haven't quite made up my mind. The $300 price is a bit high, but around the price most consoles usually sell for. Would really like to get the new Zelda game though.

Well my boyfriend preordered one, along with Zelda and some accessories. It got delivered a couple hours ago (I'm working on stuff from home), but I'll let him do the unboxing. Right now I don't have much interest in it myself, but I'm sure he'll be playing Zelda tonight so I may play Doom in the living room via Steam Link to keep an eye on it and measure my interest.

WOLF BIRD : yes, let us know your impressions after ! :)

As for me, no switch at home ! Maybe one day but for the moment no : I don't have a real interest for this machine, even if it seems to be interesting ! We'll see later ! :)

Well, it seems as if the Nintendo Switch had a very good release and broke some selling records in it's first few days:
