Was this revealed in Japan, or perhaps in the USA, but one day too early?

I would hope not, since this could be good, but it is too suspicious. ;)

It looks like you are absolutely right Icecypher as it appears to be an early April Fool's Day joke from reading some of the comments under the article, etc. I must say that like several others, I don't find this one bit funny. I take my Super Mario Bros. serious. Well, as serious as you can take them, lol. Oh well, I can still hope that it will happen for real one of these days.

April Fool's Day (and apparently now the days preceding it)...the day(s) to tune your baloney detection kit to even higher than usual when reading anything on the internet, because there's a good chance it's not true.

I kind of figured before even clicking on the article it was a hoax. The internet hoax/joke machine has started early this year. For at least the next 24 hours it's probably a good idea to not take anything you read online at face value, no matter how awesome something may seem.

Next Pokemon game(s): Pearl
Last finished Pokémon game: Shield
Other games: Skyrim Special Edition (Switch), Spyro Reignited Trilogy (Switch & PS4), Okami (Switch & PS4)
Other gaming goals: completing a Living Pokedex (minus some event Pokes) and going through at least 1 game per generation

Besides, there already was a Super Mario Bros. 4. (No, really! Super Mario World was subtitled Super Mario Bros. 4 in Japan!)
Read my social stuff!
The ramblings of an oldish geezer on Facebook.
@SnorbESnorb on Twitter. The "E" stands for "Everything."

Play my games!
The ArrrPG - A game I made about being a pirate. This be a first draft, matey! Though it plays just fine, clap yer eyes on th' eventual Revised an' Expanded Edition and you'll be pleased, by thunder!

Nakama: A Card Game of Magical Girls - A completely un-playtested card game about being a magical girl.

Well, excuse me while I defy all laws of logic and common sense and do it anyway.
