KOF Sky Stage

Postby Lucas » Sun Nov 8, '09, 6:27 am

I’m quite a big fan of the King of Fighters games sometimes it can rival how much of a fan I am to the Street Fighter series. Anyway after releasing The King of Fighters XII I thought SNK would start working on KOF XIII but instead they decided to make what appears to be a vertical side scrolling shoot ‘em up game featuring KOF characters. For a fighting game based company this is little weird but I still have an open mind about it.

So far only four characters seem to have been confirmed and anybody that has played a KOF games knows that SNK has made over 100 fighting game characters.
Confirmed players:
·Kyo Kusanagi
·Athena Asamiya
·Iori Yagami
·Kula Diamond

Here's a decent link I found about it:

I'm a little dubious on this one because it doesn't show much to it other than there's new characters flying. I'll decide more on it as new info comes out..

Yeah I’m still a bit iffy about the whole idea too. I do have high hopes though because SNK has made some enjoyable games in the past. Time will tell… :blank:

That's... kinda odd. I suppose it's better than another shooter with a space ship or airplane, but using KoF characters in a setting like this is a bit off the wall. I just hope it's not a generic shooter with the characters inserted. That sort of thing never pleases fans.

I have the trial on Xbox 360 but I have yet to actually play it as I rarely use my 360.

When you get the chance you'll have to let me know what you think of it SCS. I've been quite interested in SNK's move to use KOF characters in a shooter. :)

Did they ever add any more characters to it? I think I remember seeing a screenshot somewhere with Mai as one of them.

I just gave the trial a go. The gameplay is pretty much typical for a shooting game. Mai and Terry are also in it but the trial only let's you pick from Kyo and Iori. Plus it has English voices, which are the same actors from KOF XII (which had optional English voices). They are still horrible and I couldn't find an option to go back to the original Japanese voices, so expect cheesy one-liners like "How do you like this!" I'd say you should pick this up if you're a diehard KOF fan or love classic shooting games Xevious or 1942.
