Some more upgrades have been installed on the shoutbox system tonight. These upgrades should make using BBCode in the shoutbox easier.

If you access the shoutbox on a standalone page (using the Chat or Private Chat links in the Community menu at the top of any page), you will now have access to BBCode buttons that can be used to easily insert text effects into messages. These buttons will not appear on the shoutbox placements on the site or forum entry pages, to keep loading time of those pages as low as possible.

Recently, guest posting in the shoutbox was disabled due to some issues that needed to be addressed (mainly spam prevention). Those have now been addressed to my satisfaction, so guest posting has been enabled again.

I was going to include a smilies list with the BBCode controls, but it doesn't work well right now. Maybe later!
