Gas prices

Postby Silver_Surfer1 » Wed Dec 29, '10, 1:46 am

Gas prices seem to be going up again. :(

I don't know if it's because of the holidays (when more people are out traveling the roads) or what it is.

We are having to pay nearly $3.00 a gallon for gas now in our area and wouldn't be surprised to see it go even higher.

I certainly hope it doesn't though.

Anyone else facing the same problems regarding gas prices?

$3.00? Try $3.29. :(

I actually lucked out a little bit, because I filled my gas tank on the day before I got sick. A few days later, I went into the hospital for eight days. I let my fiance drive my car on Christmas Eve just to run it, but we only went to my parents' and back. I'm planning on making that tank of gas last FOREVER (or until the gas prices go back down).

It's purely crazy! Gas prices here are up to $2.83 a gallon for regular now. The economy is in terrible shape and the gas is getting more expensive? Makes no sense at all.

We're getting some crazy hikes around here, too. I've seen and heard of it jumping up a dime in one day. The price has risen around $1 a gallon over the last few months. I miss the days when $10 would fill a tank. Now that won't even buy five gallons.

Gas in my area has hovered just under $3.00/Gallon for quite some time now. My car gets great mileage, but I have to drive 20+ miles to work everyday, so I have to fill up at least once a week :(

Everytime I fill my car with fuel it's like I see my money running away from me....it's sad that we're so dependant of our car that the gas company can do whetever they want with the price, they know we'll always fill our car anyway

This is one reason why biking everywhere and using public transit is my transportation method of choice - saves me a TON of money. Thus, gas prices have a much lesser effect on me, so from a personal standpoint, I don't feel the effect much. Still, not good that they're going up at least in the short term, for those who have to drive a lot. :( I suspect part of it is the holidays and the heavy travel going on this time of year...if I remember correctly, gas prices frequently spike a bit at the very end of the year. It's also partially to do with rising demand for fuel in the so-called emerging economies, which will drive up fuel prices over the long term.

Overall, fuel (and tangentially, food) prices are really volatile and often just go all over the place in the shorter term.

Now, I'm hearing and reading talk of gas prices possibly going up to $5.00 for one gallon of gas. That is absurd!!!

Well, I'm bumping this topic back up again. Due to the recent unrest in Egypt, and other possible reasons, the price of gas is going sky high once again.

How much are you paying for gas in your area now?

Gas prices in my area are reaching almost $3.50 a gallon. I'm afraid to think what they may be in a few weeks or so.

It's around $3.20 to $3.30 here. That's around a dollar more than this time last year, I think. It just keeps going up, so we're starting to look at ways to limit our usage more and more.
